Homework

Maths

The maths department will set regular homework's linked to the particular units that are being studied in each term.

English

 Preparation on reading responses which involves reading a variety of 19th C texts and answering questions on these texts to prepare them for the English Language exam.

History

In preparation for their mock exams the pupils will be given a series of revision tasks to complete.  This will involve reviewing the entire module and identifying areas of strength and weakness, producing revision cards and planning practice questions.

Students will also be given access to the PIXL history APP and can begin answering the questions on this. The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

 

Spanish

There is a set of questions to practice the skills and knowledge for the GCSE Spanish Speaking exam.  There is also a Photo Card which further allows for more practice of the crucial grammar and vocabulary. The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

Computing

GCSE Computing Homework is found in the booklet "PixL Independence Computer Science: Student Booklet KS4 Practical programming"

Each week students are to complete one quiz and one exam style question. This will allow for ten weeks of homework. For the final week of homework, students are to take one of the research links at the back of the booklet and present one A4 page of research on their chosen topic. They should include in this research a clear definition of the subject, its significance in computing today (i.e. why it is important to our subject) and how this area impacts on the worlds of work and society."

 

Food

 

Science

Exam Technique  - Complete a booklet of questions to challenge the ability of students to apply their knowledge. The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

 

Geography

Practice 4 and 6 mark questions about coastal land forms and coastal protection using photographs and maps as sources with own knowledge. The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline. Students will also be given access to the PIXL Geography APP and can begin answering the questions on this.

 

BTEC Sport

Students will be set regular homework's and revision tasks relating to the content of Unit 1: Fitness for Sport and Exercise.

Students will also be given a number of past exam papers relating to Unit 1: Fitness for Sport and Exercise. They will be given further instructions on the completion of these after October half term in the run up to the mock exams.
