Homework

Maths

The maths department will set regular homework's linked to the particular units that are being studied in each term. .  The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

English

Reading project.  Students complete up to 10 reading tasks on a variety of texts and genres.  The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

History

Victorian Britain – the students are to produce a research project on a key figure in Victorian Britain.  Your teacher will give you some ideas, but think along the lines of inventor, explorer, writer, artist or military leader.  Some example names could be Charles Dickens, David Livingstone, Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole, Mary Anning and Isambard Kingdom Brunel.  Be creative, you can present your project in the media of your choice.  For example,  you could design a booklet, write a pamphlet, make a presentation, create some art or make a film. The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

Spanish

Create a diary of an imaginary trip to Spain or a Spanish speaking country. You should create a little diary, either on a single sheet of paper or as a little booklet.

Write what activities you did on each day and add who with, when and try to give your opinion. As a challenge, see if you can use the we parts of the verbs and add what the weather was like.

Art

African Art

Pupils will be expected to research and investigate African Art / Techniques and practitioners that produce work with an African Theme. A homework task sheet will be provided with numerous activities to complete throughout the Autumn Term.

Technology

In Technology years 7, 8 and 9, students work on projects in ten week cycles. As they move to each new technology project their teacher will issue them with a booklet related to that unit.  It is expected that students complete each unit of homework alongside the unit of study. In Food technology, students have a choice of two homework tasks

Computing

In computing  in year 8 students will complete a term of work researching how computers work. This task is directional and will guide students to the key areas that they need to study. A homework club runs weekly to support students who do not have access to IT facilities at home.

The eye -  Produce a labelled model of the eye using any combinations of materials.   The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

Geography

Tectonics Creative Research Project.  The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.

PE

Investigate the different components of fitness and which ones different  sports people need in order to perform at the highest level. Develop your knowledge of fitness training and think about your own strengths and weaknesses in terms of your fitness levels. The class teacher will issue this and explain what is exactly required, as well as informing the pupils of the deadline.
